Here is the final video activity.

I'm still not sure if it will be possible to finish this semester but I think it's a good idea to complete this activity anyway.

Send it to me by Friday the 26th.

2nd evaluation - video

I'm putting the details of the second video up now. We need to continue or it's going to be difficult to get everything finished this semester.

The deadline is the 4th of June.

If you have any questions send me an email.

Task details
Record a 2 minute mobile phone video presentation* about a journey you would like to make in the future.

Say:
Where you would like to go,
Who you would go with,
Why you would like to make this journey,
What things you would like to do on the journey.
Mention anything else you think is important.

Post 5 - Future job

- What kind of job would you like to have? How do you imagine it?
- Outdoors /indoors?
- Would you like to travel a lot in your job?
- In an office?
- What major are you studying / are you thinking of taking?    Explain why
- Add any other related ideas.

- Make comments on 3 of your classmates’ posts

- Word Count: 220 words

It's difficult to say which job I'd like to have. I think that's because I love doing so many different things in life, I would be happy working in any of them. I think my ideal job would be to have a house in the country where I would grow my own food and cook and also teach students part-time. I'm a bit of a hippy and I love nature. I want to have a big garden near to a forest and a lake where I can go and forage and fish and only buy the minimum of things.

I love teaching. I think it's important and I enjoy doing it, but I would prefer to have that as one activity as well as others. Maybe I could be a house keeper and teach private class once or twice a day. That sounds nice.

I do like travelling, but not for work. As long as I can get there on my bike then I'll be happy. Even more fun would be if I lived somewhere snowy, I could go to work on skis.

I don't want to work in an office either, unless I'm there to give a class. Offices are too sterile and small. They're so depressing and the people there look so unhealthy, slowly poisoning themselves with bad coffee and a lack of daylight.

Today I'd like you to write about the protests that are happening this week.

Include the following.

  • What's happening?
  • Why are there strikes and marches?
  • What's your opinion? Do you support this movement? Are there other ways that you would prefer?

A SUBJECT YOU ENJOYED AT SCHOOL

Record a 2 minute mobile phone video presentation about a subject you enjoyed at school

Say:

  • What the subject was,
  • Who taught it,
  • Why you enjoyed it,
  • What things you learnt in this subject.
  • Mention anything else you think is important.
Send the video (or a link) to my email.

Deadline: 20th May.

A mobile phone video presentation is a video of the student talking directly to the camera.
This activity is seen as part of the learning process. Videos are made in the students’ own
time and they are free to practice and record as many versions as they see fit in order to
complete the task. However, the final video must be in one take (i.e. they must not be
edited). Moreover, you should be able to see the student clearly in the video (i.e. No
sunglasses!). If you think that the text is being read you can arrange for the student to re-
record it or repeat the talk in class. Please make students aware of this fact.

Post 3 - Holiday / concert

This week you have a choice. Choose one of the following options.

Holidays:

- when it was
- where you went
- how long it was
- people you went with
- things / activities you did

Concert:

- any other memories about it

Post 2 - Paris

Today is a free choice and together we decided to write about Paris.

I think we can be quite free with the development of the text today.

However, you must write at least 150 words.

And write a comment on three of your classmates' blogs.

Post 1 - A country I would like to visit.

So, welcome to my blog.

Over the next months we'll be using these blogs on a regular basis to get some real-life practice and interaction in English.

Your blog is your domain to express yourself as you wish (as long as it's all in English) but as a guide try to include the following in today's post:

First post - A country I would like to visit

    - Which country would you like to go to? Why?
    - What do you know about it?
    - What would you like to do there?
    - Would you like to study/work/live there? Explain.
    - Make comments on 3 of your classmates’ posts
    - Word Count: 160 words

There are lots of countries I would like to visit. The truth is, I prefer to visit places where I have a specific reason to go there, that could be a friend, something I want to see or a specific activity I would like to do.

Of course I would love to aimlessly wander the streets of Thailand or India but for me some sort of connection is important so my first choice would be to visit Finland.
For some reason, more by accident than design, I have quite a few friends in Finland and they are all lovely people so I'd like to see the country that has made them that way. Finland also has the best education system in the world so I'd love to talk to people about that. It also has incredible winters, lots of snow and cold which is something I'd like to experience. They are also the world-experts in saunas which sounds good to me. Historically the country is also very interesting, it shares a border with Russia which has affected it's culture and history a great deal.
I would like to live there for at least a few months. I think it's impossible to really experience a place if you don't have some sort of interaction with it, so having a part-time job would be great
